On the morning of March 27, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Hoang Tuan chaired the regular meeting in March to evaluate the results of implementing socio-economic development tasks in March and the first quarter 2024 and deploy a number of key tasks in April and the second quarter of 2024.

Significant socio-economic results

According to the report of the Provincial People's Committee, the province's socio-economic situation in March and the first quarter of 2024 achieved some positive results.

Total state budget revenue in the province in March was estimated at 2,169 billion VND. In the first quarter of 2024, it was estimated at 8,489 billion VND, up 15.6% over the same period last year, reaching 33.2% of the yearly estimate.

Export turnover in the first quarter was estimated at 577 million USD, up 14.2% over the same period, reaching 23% of the year plan.

Import turnover increased by 3.7% over the same period, reaching 24.3% of the year plan.

Total retail sales of consumer goods, commercial activities, transportation, and revenue in the tourism sector all increased compared to the same period in 2023.

Agricultural, forestry, and fishery production developed stably. Fishery production increased.

Regarding convention investment capital, by March 31, 2024, disbursement reached 15.3% of the assigned capital plan.

In the first quarter of 2024, two projects with a total registered capital of 1,800 billion VND were approved.

Social security and welfare work was implemented promptly by all sectors and levels.

Activities in the fields of education, health, and job creation maintained positive results.

National defense and security were strengthened, and social order and safety were maintained.

The work of delivering and receiving troops reached 100% of the assigned target.

Besides, the achieved results, the province's socio-economic situation still faces some limitations.

The situation of attracting domestic and foreign investment faced many difficulties.

Land use fee revenue was still low. Compensation and site clearance works in some localities were still slow.

The output of petrochemical products decreased sharply, so the industrial production index decreased.

Delegates attending the meeting also analyzed and evaluated the shortcomings and limitations.

They highlighted the subjective and objective causes leading to the shortcomings and limitations.

At the same time, they also proposed many solutions to effectively implement socio-economic development goals in April, the second quarter and the whole year 2024.

Key tasks in the coming time

Speaking at the conclusion of the meeting, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Tran Hoang Tuan, highly appreciated their efforts to achieve positive results in March and the first quarter of 2024.

Regarding the key tasks in the coming time, the Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested all departments and localities to continually promote a high sense of responsibility, make great efforts, and deploy more drastically in implementing socio-economic development tasks.

Heads of departments, units and localities in the province continually closely follow and promptly implement the directions of the Central Government and the Prime Minister, as well as the contents of direction and guidance of ministries, directions of the Provincial Party Committee, Provincial People's Council, and Provincial People's Committee.

They were directed to focus on completing the tasks in the key work program for the second quarter of 2024.

Relevant departments should review and evaluate the financial situation, budget and medium-term public investment plan. On that basis, they would balance and adjust the allocation of resources for socio-economic development tasks in order of priority and in accordance with resources.

Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Hoang Tuan requested the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs (DoLISA) to urgently review and carefully evaluate data on poor and near-poor households in the province, especially in the mountainous districts.

DoLISA should advise and propose to the Party Committee of the Provincial People's Committee to submit to the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee to assign poverty reduction targets to localities in 2024.

The Committee for Ethnic Minorities and relevant departments and localities were requested to review, evaluate and drastically and effectively deploy national target programs.

Delegates discussed social-economic results

People's Committees of districts, towns, and cities will review all work and tasks that have been assigned but have not been completed, as well as the work that must be done.

On that basis, they will clearly define responsibilities, assign tasks, determine completion time, and report them to the Provincial People's Committee for consideration and direction.
