Strengthening the prevention and control of avian influenza to humans

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Health to:

• Assume the prime responsibility for, and coordinate with the Provincial Border Guard Command, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the People's Committees of districts, towns and cities to strengthen the close supervision of people entering the country. It aims at detecting early suspected cases of the disease, especially those who slaughter, trade in live poultry and poultry products, people with a history of coming from epidemic-affected areas.
• Promptly take samples for testing and send them to the Institute for testing Pasteur Nha Trang to perform definite diagnostic tests.
• Simultaneously, direct and guide to strengthen surveillance of acute respiratory infections, severe viral pneumonia syndrome and influenza syndrome to promptly detect influenza A(H5N1) cases;
• Direct hospitals to be ready to collect, isolate and treat according to regulations of the Ministry of Health and promptly notify the provincial Center for Disease Control for timely epidemic prevention and control measures;
• Prepare drugs, supplies, chemicals and means of timely support for the locality to implement measures to handle the outbreak;
• Assume the prime responsibility for, and coordinate in the prevention and control of diseases transmitted from animals to humans according to regulations.

The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development shall assume the prime responsibility for, and coordinate with other departments, branches, units and localities in strengthening coordination with the Health sector, especially in inter-sectoral coordination between health and animal health agencies in monitoring and detecting avian influenza in live poultry markets.

They promptly share information on the epidemic situation in poultry, and coordinating in investigating and handling outbreaks in a timely manner according to the Ministry of Health regulations.

They are requested to coordinate in the prevention and control of diseases transmitted from animals to humans according to regulations.
