Protection and development of aquatic resources in 2024

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to:

• Continue to effectively implement the 2017 Fisheries Law and documents guiding the implementation of the Law in the field of conservation, protection and development of aquatic resources; Strengthen inspection, control, and prevention of illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing and encroachment on marine protected areas.
• Mobilize social resources to participate in the regeneration of aquatic resources and restore important marine ecosystems such as coral reefs and seagrass beds in marine protected areas and water bodies.
• Organize and implement regulations on management of endangered and rare aquatic species.
• Guide localities to develop and organize the implementation of co-management models in protecting aquatic resources.
• Strengthen inspection and examination of violations of the law in protecting aquatic resources and marine conservation.
• Continue to organize training and propaganda to raise awareness for the fishing community, creating a change in awareness of the position and role of marine conservation, protection and development of aquatic resources.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee assigned the Provincial Police to:

• Direct units to continue to strictly implement Directive No. 19/CT-TTg dated July 30, 2014 of the Prime Minister on prohibiting the use of explosives and electrical impulses, toxic substances for aquatic exploitation and strengthening the protection of aquatic resources.
• Proactively grasp the situation and activities of those who trade, store, transport and use explosives, electric shocks, and toxins for aquatic exploitation.
• Coordinate with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and relevant agencies, units and localities to strengthen inspection of fishing activities in inland water bodies, fishing ports and fishing wharves.
• Strictly handle violations in exploiting and protecting aquatic resources.

The People's Committees of districts, towns and cities to:

• Coordinate with relevant agencies and units to effectively implement the 2017 Fisheries Law and documents guiding the implementation of the Law in the field of conservation, protection and development of aquatic resources.
• Strengthen inspection, control, and prevention of illegal, unreported, and unregulated fisheries exploitation and encroachment on marine protected areas.
• Proactively coordinate with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to implement Decision No. 76/QD-TTg dated January 18, 2024 of the Prime Minister.
• Develop and organize the implementation of co-management models in protecting aquatic resources.
• Strengthen communication work to raise awareness for the fishing community, creating a change in awareness of the position and role of marine conservation, protection and development of aquatic resources for the entire society with rich and diverse forms of propaganda, suitable to the culture of each locality.
• Bring some contents about marine conservation, protection and development of aquatic resources into schools.
