The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee has just issued Official Letter No. 2263/UBND-KGVX directing the implementation of activities to respond to the World No Tobacco Day 31/5, the National No Tobacco Week 25-31/5/2023. 
It will also strengthen the implementation of the Law on Prevention and Control of Tobacco Harms under the guidance of the Ministry of Health.
The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the heads of agencies, units and localities to proactively disseminate, grasp and organize the effective implementation at the request of the Ministry of Health Official Letter No. 2725/BYT-KGB dated May 9, 2023.
The Department of Health shall assume the prime responsibility for and coordinate with agencies, units and localities in reviewing and advising the Provincial People's Committee to consider and direct the implementation of the prevention and control of tobacco harms to ensure suitability in the province.
According to the content of Official Letter No. 2725/BYT-KGB dated May 9, 2023, the Ministry of Health, if we do not take strong anti-tobacco measures, the rate of tobacco use will increase again, especially in groups of young people and women.
Therefore, it is necessary to communicate about the Law on Prevention of Tobacco Harms; World No Tobacco Day theme; harmful effects of conventional cigarettes, e-cigarettes, heated cigarettes, shisha...
Agencies and units need to include the prevention of tobacco harms in their annual work plans; put the regulation on smoking ban at the workplace into the internal regulations of the agency or unit; hand out no-smoking signs at places where smoking is prohibited.
They will establish and organize an interdisciplinary inspection team to integrate it into other program inspection activities; strengthen inspection, examination and strictly handle the illegal purchase, sale and use of tobacco in the locality.
