Free surgery for disabled children in Quang Ngai

On August 22, Operation Smile in collaboration with the People's Committee of Quang Ngai Province, the Provincial Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Hospital of Obstetrics and Gynecology of Quang Ngai province and the medical team from the Central Institute of Odonto-Stomatology HCM City organized free surgery for children with cleft palate in Quang Ngai. 
The free surgery program for children with maxillofacial deformities takes place from August 22 to August 26, with the desire to share and help disadvantaged children, bringing smiles and confidence to them.
All surgeries will be performed free of charge. In addition, the patients will be partially supported with travel and accommodation costs during the hospital stay.
In Quang Ngai, the program has operated on about 1,000 children over the years, for those who have not yet had surgery, the team will try to do it in the near future.
In Quang Ngai province, there are 120 children who need examination and surgery.
According to statistics, in developing countries like Vietnam, one in 700 children is born with a birth defect of the lips and cleft palate. With this deformity, the children face many difficulties in life such as respiratory failure, malnutrition, difficulty in eating, pronunciation, etc.
According to Operation Smile, after 33 years of operation in Vietnam, Operation Smile continues to carry out its mission of providing free, safe and timely surgeries for children with cleft lip and cleft palate. In this August, thanks to the sponsorship of Viet Dreams, it is expected that about 80 children and young people will be treated in Quang Ngai.
