Workshop on maritime safety, search and rescue for Ly Son seafarers and fishermen

On 24 June, Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center in coordination with Quang Ngai Maritime Port Authority held a workshop on maritime safety, search and rescue and first aid for seafarers and fishermen in Ly Son island district.
At the workshop, seafarers and fishermen were provided with basic knowledge about maritime safety, skills in using life-saving equipment, signal bandwidths, frequency bands to communicate with search and rescue agencies when they and their fishing vessels encountering incidents at sea.
In addition, the participants were also instructed by the doctors from the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center in initial medical first aid for seafarers who to get an electric shock, to be burned due to heat; how to bandage wounds, fix broken bones, and take advantage of available medicine to maintain the lives of seafarers before rescued by Search and Rescue forces.
On this occasion, Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center in coordination with Quang Ngai Maritime Port Authority handed also over 220 national flags, 200 life jackets and 20 medicine covers and necessary medicines for offshore fishing owners.
