To use Vss-ID instead of health insurance card since June 01, 2021

Vietnam Social Insurance has just issued Official Letter No. 493/BHXH-CSYT dated May 31, 2021 on the use of the Health Insurance card image on the VSS-ID application for medical examination and treatment. 
Accordingly, over the past time, the piloting of using health insurance cards on Vss-ID application in 10 flood-affected localities has brought convenience to health insurance participants and medical facilities. In addition, the confidentiality and safety when using are still guaranteed, limiting the profiteering of health insurance funds.
Vietnam Social Insurance has agreed that, since June 01, 2021, patients with health insurance who come for medical examination and treatment can use the image of the health insurance card on the Vss-ID application instead of using a paper health insurance card. The medical facility scans the QR-Code or directly writes the health insurance card number on the Vss-ID application (in case the facility does not have a reader). Health care facilities have solutions to prevent profiteering of health insurance funds; receive difficulties and problems in the implementation process, promptly report to the social insurance agency for settlement.
