To strengthen the implementation of prevention and control of livestock and poultry diseases

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee has just issued Official Letter No. 850/UBND-KTN directing to strengthen the implementation of prevention and control of livestock and poultry diseases in the province.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the People's Committees of districts, towns and cities to urgently approve the plan for prevention and control of livestock, poultry and aquatic animals in 2023.

They are requested to speed up the vaccination schedule for the first phase of 2023 from the source provincial vaccines; review and make accurate statistics of the total livestock herds of the locality; organize compulsory vaccination of vaccines against dangerous diseases in livestock, ensuring the rate reaches over 80% of the total herd at the time of vaccination; especially pay attention to livestock in high-risk areas, pets that have been vaccinated but have expired or are about to expire.

They organize close monitoring of the epidemic situation, ensure early detection, timely reporting and direct the thorough handling of outbreaks, preventing the disease from spreading on a large scale; strengthen the management of the import of livestock and poultry breeds; control the transportation, trade and slaughter of animals and animal products, strictly handle violations according to regulations.

They organize the implementation of the Month of General Sanitation, Disinfection and Decontamination of the environment; instruct farmers to increase the application of measures of hygiene and disinfection with lime powder and chemicals in the barn area and surrounding areas with high risk; take measures to prevent disease vector species from entering the cages, spray disinfectants and insecticides against vector species.

They strengthen information and propaganda in various forms and contents suitable to each audience about risks and harms of epidemics; implement vaccination of livestock and other measures to prevent and control diseases; enhance people's responsibility in disease prevention and control.

They establish working groups led by leaders of districts, towns and cities to inspect and urge disease prevention and control; urgently focus resources to control and definitively handle the outbreaks that are occurring, preventing widespread spread; strictly handle cases of hiding epidemics, failing to report, selling and slaughtering infected animals, leading to widespread epidemics.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to urgently coordinate with the Department of Finance to advise the Provincial People's Committee to arrange funds to buy vaccines and chemicals to organize the implementation of epidemic prevention plans for the districts: Son Tay, Tra Bong and Ly Son.

They approved the contractor selection plan to organize the bidding to buy vaccines and chemicals in time for distribution to districts, towns and cities to organize vaccination, disinfection and sterilization; establish working groups led by Department leaders to inspect and urge epidemic prevention and control in epidemic-affected localities to completely handle ongoing outbreaks, preventing the spread of disease.

The Provincial Market Management Department is responsible for closely coordinating with the People's Committees of districts, towns, cities and relevant functional sectors and units, directing the organization of inspection and supervision to drastically prevent, promptly detect and strictly handle cases of illegal transportation of animals and animal products, especially poultry of unknown origin in the province.
