Strengthening solid waste management in Quang Ngai province

The Department of Construction prepares the planning of solid waste treatment areas and landfills and submits them to the Provincial People's Committee for approval.

Department of Finance advises and proposes competent authorities to consider funding support according to budget decentralization and local budget balance for solid waste management activities.

The Department of Planning and Investment shall base on the annual plan to allocate investment capital for works and projects on solid waste collection and treatment management and develop mechanisms to encourage socialization of collection, transportation and treatment activities.

The Department of Health shall direct medical facilities under its management and training institutions in the field of medicine and pharmacy, pharmacies, drugstores, etc. in the area to well perform the collection and treatment of medical waste.

The Department of Industry and Trade directs commercial centers and supermarkets in the distribution and use of environmentally friendly products, which are labeled with eco-labels to gradually replace disposable plastic products.

The Authority of Dung Quat Economic Zone and Quang Ngai Industrial Parks inspect and supervise investors in the construction and business of industrial park infrastructure; production and business enterprises in IZs strictly implement the classification, collection, transportation, treatment of solid waste and environmental sanitation on the internal roads of the IZs and business premises.

They strictly control the collection and transportation of hazardous waste and industrial waste in industrial zones according to regulations, ensuring current regulations.

The Department of Science and Technology advises the Provincial People's Committee to order science and technology tasks on solid waste treatment; technology to process and recycle agricultural by-products and wastes after harvest in an environmentally friendly manner, ensuring compliance with actual conditions in the province.

The Department of Transport shall inspect and resolutely handle the situation of accumulation of waste, scrap and waste in violation of the traffic safety corridor under its management.

Department of Agriculture and Rural Development propagates environmental sanitation associated with new rural construction. It directs the Sub-department of Irrigation and its affiliated units to organize the timely collection, transportation and treatment of solid waste in irrigation canals and ditches.

The Department of Education and Training directs the Departments of Education and Training, schools and educational and training institutions in the province to periodically organize environmental sanitation.

Provincial police will direct the functional forces to strengthen the understanding of the situation, proactively prevent and fight against violations of the law on environment to promptly detect and strictly handle according to the provisions of the law.

Provincial departments, agencies, socio-political organizations, central agencies located in the province propagate and mobilize cadres, civil servants, public employees, union members, members and employees actively participate in the implementation of environmental sanitation at their agencies and units.

People's Committees of districts, towns and cities direct the People's Committees of communes, wards and townships to strictly implement regulations on solid waste collection and treatment according to current regulations of the State; propagate and mobilize people to strictly observe the State's regulations on environmental protection for solid waste; mobilize people from all walks of life to simultaneously collect waste, clean up the environment of streets, village roads, alleys, residential groups and residential areas where they live.
