Press conference to announce socio-economic statistics in the first 6 months of 2023

At the press conference, Director of the Provincial Statistics Office Nguyen Hung said that in the first 6 months of 2023, the province's socio-economic situation was affected by the general situation of the world, but still achieved some positive results. Gross domestic product (GRDP) was estimated at more than VND 29,200 billion, up 2.65% over the same period in 2022.

Realized investment capital in the area is estimated at more than VND 15,200 billion, up 1.54% (VND 232.3 billion) over the same period in 2022. Total retail sales of consumer goods and services is estimated at more than VND 35,200 billion, up 11.34%. The average CPI increased by 3.18%, of which 4/11 groups of goods and services had a higher price index than the general increase.

Revenue from transportation, warehousing and transportation support services was estimated at more than VND 2,500 billion, up 24.84% over the same period last year. The index of industrial production decreased by 1.42%. State budget revenue in the area is estimated at VND 12,733 billion. Local budget expenditure is estimated at VND 7,266 billion.

Besides the achieved results, Quang Ngai's economy still faces many difficulties and continues to face new challenges. Most industrial enterprises in the province have not found new export partners. The wood processing industry and wood products have difficulty in finding export orders to foreign markets, while orders from traditional markets are decreasing day by day.

In order to achieve the highest results of socio-economic development goals and targets in 2023, all levels, sectors and localities need to continue to synchronously and effectively implement the solutions set out in Decision No. No. 68/QD-UBND dated 18 January 2023 on the main tasks and solutions to implement the socio-economic development plan in 2023.

At the press conference, leaders of the Provincial Statistics Office answered questions from central and local press agencies on issues relating to the socio-economic situation in the first six months of 2023.
