Plan to improve the Provincial Green Index

The Provincial People's Committee has just issued Plan No. 151/KH-UBND on improving and upgrading the Provincial Green Index (PGI). 
The plan aims to maintain, improve and upgrade the PGI of Quang Ngai province from ranked 33 in 2022 to 23 out of 63 provinces and cities nationwide in 2023.
It strives to improve the score of the PGI component indexes from 14.64 points to 15.10 points, an increase of 0.46 points compared to 2022.
Reportedly, the Vietnam Federation of Trade and Industry (VCCI) and the US Agency for International Development in Vietnam (USAID) on April 11 introduced and published the Provincial Green Index (PGI).
The Provincial Green Index (PGI) is a set of indicators to evaluate and rank environmentally friendly localities from the perspective of business practices.
They include the level of application of environmentally friendly technologies by local businesses; the level of management and environmental behavior of enterprises; the level of concern and willingness to invest in environmental issues of the local government and many other important environmental issues.
The goal of the green index is to promote provinces and cities in Vietnam to pay more attention to economic development associated with environmental protection.
The announcement is expected to provide timely information to support provincial and city governments in their planning policies, promoting the construction of an environmentally friendly business ecosystem.
It will also contribute to attracting environmentally investors and quality "green" projects for Vietnam.
The Green Index will contribute to accelerating Vietnam's sustainable economic development and boost Vietnam's efforts to achieve the commitments made at COP26.
