MOST announces the Ranking of the Provincial Innovation Index (PII)

According to the PII Ranking, Quang Ngai ranked 26/63 provinces and cities nationwide, and r5/14 provinces and cities in the North Central and Central Coast regions with 28.88 points.

It includes 52 component indicators, providing a realistic and overall picture of the current status of the socio-economic development model based on science, technology and innovation of each locality. 

The index provides bases and evidence of strengths, weaknesses, potential factors and necessary conditions to promote socio-economic development based on science and technology and innovation of each locality. 

Based on the set of indicators, policy makers and local leaders have the basis to identify and select appropriate orientations and solutions for the socio-economic development of their localities based on science and technology and innovation.

PII was built closely following the structure of the Global Innovation Index (GII) published annually by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and used by the Government in management and administration since 2017. 

According to the Ministry of Science and Technology, PII has a wide and comprehensive scope of socio-economic development based on science and technology and innovation of localities. 

Therefore, the index will be a tool for each province/city to reflect in detail the angles in the aspects of output and input, clearly identify strengths, weaknesses, potential factors and necessary conditions to promote socio-economic development based on science and technology and innovation.
