Launching the Provincial Governance and Public Administration Performance Index 2023

On April 2, 2024, in Hanoi, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Viet Nam hosted the launch of the report "Provincial Governance and Public Administration Performance Index in Viet Nam (PAPI) 2023.

According to the published results, Quang Ngai province in 2023 reached 40.48 points, ranking 49/63 provinces and cities in the country, down 2.45 points and down 26 places compared to 2022.

Thua Thien Hue topped the country with over 46.04 points and Dak Nong province ranked at the bottom with 38.97 points.

Quang Ngai has only one content index increasing compared to 2022. It is public administrative procedures.

The Provincial Governance and Public Administration Performance Index in Vietnam is a tool for citizens to participate in monitoring the effectiveness of the government in implementing policies at the grassroots level.

Following a pilot survey in 2009 and a larger scale in 2010, the PAPI survey has been conducted nationwide since 2011.

In 2023, 19,536 randomly selected residents participated in the PAPI survey.

Over the past 15 years, 197,779 people nationwide have participated in the assessment of governance and public administration effectiveness from direct interaction with authorities at all levels through the PAPI study since 2009.
