Son Tay marks the 30th anniversary of district's re-establishment

On August 6, the Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Son Tay district solemnly celebrated the 30th anniversary of the district's re-establishment (August 6, 1994 - August 6, 2024) and the 65th anniversary of the district’s Liberation (September 5, 1959 - September 5, 2024)

Son Tay used to be a revolutionary area. On July 20, 1957, Zone 7 was established (equivalent to Son Tay district today), including 9 communes of Son Ha highland. In 1959, Kon Tum province handed over 6 villages to Zone 7 to establish Son Tan commune. In 1965, Zone 7 was called Son Tay district.

During the years 1970 - 1972, Son Tay district merged with the communes of Tra Bong Western area to form Son Tra area. In 1972, Son Tay district was re-established. In 1975, Son Tay district merged with Son Ha district. On August 6, 1994, under Decree 83/CP of the Government, Son Ha district was seperated into 2 districts: Son Ha and Son Tay. Son Tay district was officially re-established.

Over the past 65 years, the Party Committee, the government and people of Son Tay district, together with the ethnic people of Quang Ngai province, have always united in the fight against foreign invaders, achieving many glorious feats such as the victories of Ta Muc, Bai Mau, Lang Ra, and Xon Nit.

After 30 years of the re-establishment, the Party Committee, the government and people of all ethnic groups in Son Tay district have promoted the revolutionary tradition, overcome many difficulties and challenges, mobilized resources, exploited potentials and advantages, and developed the homeland in all areas of social life.

The district’s economic structure has positive changes, and the socio-economic infrastructure system is increasingly invested. Many new traffic routes are built; rural traffic is increasingly developed.

Agricultural and forestry production continues to be promoted effectively. Many new scientific advances are applied.

The cultural and social fields are developed. The material and spiritual life of the people is constantly improved. Cultural traditions of ethnic minorities are preserved and promoted.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Phien affirmed that the achievements of Son Tay district during the past time are very remarkable, demonstrating the spirit of solidarity, self-reliance, and self-strengthening. They also show that the district has been striving to integrate into the cause of innovation, integration and development.

On behalf of the provincial leaders, the PPC’s Vice Chairman congratulated and praised the efforts and results achieved by Son Tay district over the past 30 years, making important contribution to the overall achievements of the province and the country.

In order to successfully implement the four key tasks set out in the Resolution of the 20th Quang Ngai Provincial Party’s Congress, the Party Committee, the government and people of Son Tay district need to promote the national cultural tradition, achieve and exceed the targets, focus on overcoming difficulties and limitations, and develop Son Tay district more and more sustainably.

With the glorious revolutionary tradition, the spirit of solidarity, initiative and creativity, Phien believed that Son Tay district will continue to promote the strength of the great national unity bloc, successfully realizing the goal of "rich people, strong country, democracy, fairness and civilization".

At the anniversary, the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee presented Son Tay district with a banner "Solidarity, innovation, aspiration and development". The PPC’s Chairman presented a Certificate of Merit to the people and officials of Son Tay district for their achievements in the process of building and developing Son Tay district.

On this occasion, Anh Son district (Nghe An province) presented five gratitude houses to five ethnic minority households in difficult circumstances in Son Tay district.
