Sa Huynh Beach

Sa Huynh Beach is situated in Pho Thanh Commune, Duc Pho District, 60km south of Quang Ngai City.

 

Sa Huynh is also called Sa Hoang, it means "gold sand". Therefore, the color of sand is not white like some others, it is glitter yellow sand.


From Hanoi, one can reach Sa Huynh Beach by car or by train. One can also travel by boat from Hai phong or from Ho Chi Minh City and reach Sa Huynh Port. Close to National Highway 1A, it is the ideal location to spend a few days on a beach bordered by coconut groves and rice paddies.


Sa Huynh Motel was built to accommodate travelers and let them enjoy the sea for a day or two before continuing their journey. Sa Huynh Beach is beautiful with clear water and golden sand. Visitors can also travel by ship from Hai phong or Ho Chi Minh City.

 

 White Waterfall

The waterfall is situated in Thanh An commune, about 23km southwest of Quang Ngai city, and surrounded by an area of consecutive mountains and hills, as well as painted with green color of trees, so the space is romantic, fresh and quiet. The waterfall is about 40m high with white foam over the rock at the bottom.

The water tumbles over limestone rocks into pools at the foot of the waterfall, then follows the stream of 20m wide, crosses over undulating rock and the valley before meeting other streams.

Onychostoma gerlachi is a kind of fish in the pool at the foot of the waterfall, also a favorite specialty of many tourists.

Thien An Mountain

Over 100m high Thien An Mountain mirrors itself in the poetic river of Tra Khuc in such a manner as a heavenly stamp on the river.

 

Lying on the left bank of Tra Khuc river, east of the Quang Ngai's city, Thien An Mountain is one of the famous beauty spots ranked among Vietnam's famed mountains since the reign of Nguyen Dynasty (1850).

Topping the southwest of Thien An Mountain is the tomb of Huynh Thuc Khang (1876-1947), a famous patriotic scholar and journalist, acting president of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.


There stands on the top of the mountain an ancient pagoda (Thien An Pagoda) under the shades of trees, built in the reign of Le Dynasty, now remaining as an ancient relic after undergoing numerous repairs. 

 

In the pagoda’s yard is an ensemble of the 7 monks’ tombs built over centuries, the 20m deep Buddha Well, the Great Bell cast in 1845 (during the reign of Thieu Tri King) by Mr. Tuong Village (Mo Duc), which emits vibrating sounds linked to a legend of a magic bell.

 

Chau Sa Citadel

Chau Sa Citadel is acrampart built by the Cham people from the 9th century to protect the southern part of Tra Kieu capital.

 

Chau Sa Citadel is located in Tinh Chau commune, Son Tinh district, about 7km from Quang Ngai city to the northeast. The Citadel was built of soil, including internal and external ramparts. Nowadays, there is only 3km fortification with 4m wide, 6m high and a perimeter of 4km.

Researchers also found many artifacts of ancient pottery, Go Pho ancient tower (about 500m from the Chau Sa Citadel)… In 1994, Chau Sa Citadel was recognized as a National Historic-Cultural Vestige. 

 

Son My Site

Son My Site is situated in Tu Cung Hamlet, Tinh Khe Commune, Son Tinh District, Quang Ngai Province.

 

The site was built in memory of the civilians who were killed during the American War. It is located on the land where the American troops cruelly massacred the local people on the morning of 16 March 1968.


Here, 504 innocent people were killed cruelly in many forms such as being shot to dead, killed by grenades, or thrown into wells. Most of them were old people, women, and children. Crossing the entrance gate, at the end of the lane, visitors will see the main memorial with spiraling incense smoke. On its pedestal, there are the statues of victims showing their utmost pain before death.

 

At the Son My Site, visitors have a chance to review the evidences and think of the utmost suffering of the innocent victims of war. The Son My Site welcomes all visitors everyday, especially foreigners who are increasing in number. Many American veterans come here to confess their sin towards the ill-fated victims, or to express their sympathy towards the painful losses caused to the local population by their action. Many of them show their shame and repentance.

 

 

Ly Son Island

Ly Son Island is a beautiful place not to be missed when you are in Quang Ngai, the remaining vestiges of volcanoes 5 mouths dating back 25-30 million years ago have formed majestic landscapes with lava cliffs in different forms and shapes and pristine beaches with clear water.

Apart from the stunning scenery, Ly Son Island is also known as the kingdom of delicious garlic dishes, and specialties of the region.

Binh Chau Beach

Different from other places with the smooth sandy beach to free swimming, Binh Chau beach is near hidden ruins of a 11 million-year-old inactive volcano creating a special trait for the region.

After a 3-month survey, scientists found “graveyard of sunken ancient ships” at the bottom of the sea, sedimentary rocky island as well as many colorful coral reefs.

My Khe Beach

My Khe Beach is situated in Co Luy Village, Tinh Khe Commune, Quang Ngai City. My Khe Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in Central Vietnam. It is approximately 8km long and has fine white powdery sand.

 

It is an ideal and huge beach in Quang Ngai Province with smooth sand and a slight slope. Behind it is a deep blue poplar forest with the age of 15 - 20 years creating a green space of hundreds hectares running along the internal tourist area with the direction of south north, and beside, the Kinh River carries crystal water to the sea.

 

There has been a steady increase in the number of tourists visiting the beach. My Khe Tourist Resort is located in this area, 15km north-west of Quang Ngai City, 16km south of Dung Quat seaport and industrial zone, 14 nautical miles west of Ly Son Island. My Khe Tourist Resort is the center of Quang Ngai Town - Dung Quat- Ly Son. On the way to My Khe Beach, visitors can stop at Son My, a village destroyed in the anti-Americans war. A monument was built here in memory of the civilians who were killed.
