POWER SUPPLY

 

To 2005, Quang Ngai has 1,756 km high voltage line; 1,181.4 km lower voltage lines; 12 intermediate transformer stations; 1,254 distribution transformer stations; total capacity of 184, 815 kVA.

Power output reached 310.46 million kWh for more than 75 thousand customers.14/14 districts and cities (including Ly Son island district) have electricity.180/180 communes, wards and towns in the province are supplied power. Commercial electricity in 2005 reached 299.6 million kWh, the average power consumption per capita is 209.62 kWh / year.

In June, the Vietnam National Coal and Minerals Industrial Group (TKV) started building the Ly Son thermo-electric power plant. The plant, the first of its kind in Ly Son island district, is part of the Government’s projects on developing the electricity grid in the country’s sea and island areas.

 

The two-turbine plant has a total capacity of 6 MW, equipped with Circulating Fluidizing Bed (CFB) technology. Dust coal transported from Hon Gai, Cam Pha, Quang Ninh province is used as fuel for the plant.

 

A total amount of VND 237.4 billion is invested in the plant. The Ly Son plant is expected to join the national grid in 2011 and generate over 3 million kWh of commercial electricity annually.
